Step 1: Change the Default Folder Locationīy default, iOS will create a new "Downloads" folder in iCloud Drive and set it as your default download location.

You can also monitor the progress of downloads, stop, start, or cancel them, and jump straight to their location in the Files app, right from Safari's new downloads manager. By working with the Files app, Safari lets you download a file locally on your device, to iCloud, or to any supported third-party app. The new download manager includes several powerful features, including default folders, file previews, and downloading in the background. They aren't needed anymore though, because Apple added one in iOS 13, pushing Safari on the iPhone closer to its sibling on the Mac. Other apps have stepped in to help fill the gap, but they never felt as integrated into the iPhone as a native downloads manager would. Confirm the changes, and click the pad lock to lock the changes.Safari has always done a great job at letting you browse the web, but it has never so much as offered a way to download files locally. Hit the icon which looks like the cog and then select “apply to enclosed items”ġ1. Make sure it has read/write permissions next to your name, if it doesn’t have, then modify it by clicking on it.ġ0. If you do not see your name or username, then click the + symbol.ĩ. This should show your name or username, this indicates that you as the user have permissions to this folder. It may need your mac os x password, so if it asks you for the password, enter it.ħ. You may need to click on it to expand it.Ħ. If the padlock is locked, then click on it to unlock it. 
Locate the Sharing & Permissions section and look under it.
Ctrl + Click or Right Click your downloads folder and select Get Info.ĥ. Exit out of Safari and go to your Home Folder.Ĥ. If there is disk space left, more then the file you’re trying to download then, proceed with the steps below:ģ. Look at the capacity and available fields to see how much is left of what.
